About Rachel Bortnick
Rachel Amado Bortnick is a Sephardic Jew born and raised in Izmir, Turkey, whose native language was Ladino. She and her husband Bernard Bortnick have lived in several countries and cities, but have been residents of Dallas since 1988. Rachel has served as the President of the Dallas Jewish Historic society and has always been involved in teaching, writing and lecturing about Sephardic culture and language. She is retired after teaching ESL for 35 years.
