Torah, Trees, and Wisdom: Recovering Our Sacred Forest (50 mins)

April 15, 2024 @ 3:30 pm - 4:30 pm

About Session

Confronting climate change as Jews requires that we uncover and rediscover the layers of significance that our tradition has encoded in the natural world. When we look at trees, we find that the spiritual and cultural meanings the Torah sees them embodying build upon the vital physical roles that they play for planetary life. Come explore the many aspects of the Torah’s Eitz Chayyim and their correspondences to the life-giving properties of trees, and consider how we can “hold on to” (machzikim) the Torah’s tree-vision as we attempt to rebuild a world with trees at the center of our garden.
