We’re thrilled to introduce you to our new Board Chair, Donna Friedman Meir.
Donna succeeds Eliana Leader, who notes that, “Donna is the perfect leader to take on the mantel of leadership at this critical time for Limmud North America and for the Jewish people. She is a passionate Jewish community builder who strives to create inspiring and meaningful experiences for people of all ages and stages.”
“I am thrilled to be stepping into this leadership role for Limmud North America as its values and mission completely align with my own,” Donna says. “My personal mission is to bring more joy, connection, and inspiration into people’s lives through innovative Jewish experiences and gatherings. Limmud does just that, by building connection between people of all denominations, identities, backgrounds and other points of difference through transformative learning experiences. And, I love to learn… and have always been a lifelong Jewish learner!”
At this intense moment in our people’s history, Donna is focusing her energies on leading efforts to build and nurture Jewish community in a variety of settings. Donna has recently completed the Institute for Experiential Jewish Education’s Senior Educator’s Cohort and is currently a fellow in the Jewish Studio Project’s Facilitator Training Program.
“Donna brings to her leadership incomparable passion, a personal commitment to embodying Limmud’s values, and deeply successful professional experience to rely on in driving our efforts,” says Limmud North America CEO Rabbi David Singer. “I am ecstatic to work with her as we continue to grow Limmud’s programs and impact in communities across the continent.”
Over the past 25+ years, Donna has worked as a creative leader and brand builder of kids and family media content for the world’s most respected global brands, including National Geographic, Warner Brothers, and Nickelodeon. Donna is also a devoted mom of two evolving young adults and resides in California’s Bay Area.
“Stepping into this role at this moment feels particularly right and important for two reasons. First, given the growing divisiveness in the Jewish community, Limmud’s approach is more urgent and relevant than ever. Second, as someone whose career has been focused on brand building and innovation, the opportunity to help grow this beloved 40-year-old international brand to meet this challenging moment, as Limmud North America enters a new phase feels like an extraordinary opportunity and great fit.”
Limmud North America is committed to cultivating a vision for North American Jewish life that transcends affiliation, depth of knowledge, and experience. Our programs break down barriers, elevate curiosity, and build connections leveraging the timeless Jewish practice of study as our common bond.
As Limmud North America responds to a Jewish world faced with new and unfolding challenges, we invite you and your community to join us in exploring how we can work together to build a brighter, more-connected Jewish community.
Join us in Dallas or Winnipeg March 23, at Ramah Darom August 29 – September 1, and mark your calendar for the 2025 Global Day of Jewish Learning, November 9!
